Well, here it is almost one a.m. and I decided that I would start this blog again. I had it in 2005 and due to personal reasons I decided to delete it in 2006.
Things that used to get under my skin no longer bother me. So I'M BA-AACCKKK!
Ok, so who is this Bo who is on my brain? Ask anyone who knows me. It's Harold Elwin Bice, Jr., or "Bo" as he's better known. His voice captivated me from the beginning and I think it's because it reminds me so much of my other favorite vocalist, Mac Powell (Third Day).
I fell in love with the man- totally smitten- on May 13, 2005. My son graduated from high school that day and I took the day off work. I turned on the TV and there was Bo on the morning show in Birmingham. I watched as he chatted, got a call from Governor Riley and sang on the rooftop. I switched to Turner South and watched him arrive at the studio to be on Rick and Bubba's radio show. His sweet personality just won me over that day!
The first time I saw him was July 15, 2005 in Birmingham at the American Idols tour. I had bought tickets from a girl on eBay and my husband and I were on the 21st row. I saw his mom but was too shy to say anything to her. All during the concert I stood on my tiptoes, mouth agape, just staring. That was just the beginning!
Hurricaine Katrina struck and Bo planned a benefit concert to be held in Pelham. I didn't know anyone to go with, so I emailed Tracy, a girl I knew online, and she got me a ticket. My mom didn't want me to go and spend the night alone so she came along. We all stayed at the Best Western and had a party there before the concert. Bo's mother, cousins, grandmother, great uncle and all sorts of relatives stopped by! It was so much fun! His pastor was there as well as some folks from his church. I ended up in the VIP tent before the concert and on the second row center for the show. I once again stood with my mouth hanging open listening to the man who can sing like an angel and looks like one, too! There had been a meet and greet but I couldn't afford the $200, so I didn't get to meet Bo that day. I was convinced I never would.
The next day New Hope Church served lunch to us after the morning service. They were so open and friendly and I felt right at home.
There was no more Bo that year. I was heartsick that I had not met him and I wanted an autograph SO badly. So badly in fact that I didn't buy one, I bought TWO autographed pictures off of eBay!
Bo started a fan club that fall and I joined the first day! There were promises of meet and greets and tickets but I never dreamed I'd win any of them....
