Martin Luther King Monday

Can you believe I'm at work??? On Martin Luther King's birthday? I might as well do something I enjoy, huh?

The latest news in the Bo world is that Bo is featured on the cover of Christian Musician magazine this month (Jan/Feb 2009 issue). Bo is quite outspoken about his Christianity, much to the chagrin of some of his fans. Not me. That's one thing I admire so much about him. They might as well get used to hearing him because I don't think he's going to shut up! That's just an integral part of who he is. I am looking forward to reading the interview.

Lately I've been looking at old Bo videos and pictures. BoLand is kind of dull right now. There's no telling what Bo is doing; he's probably a busy boy. But us fans are grasping at straws, so I thought that reliving past performances would be a great way to pass the time.

This past November at the House of Blues in Myrtle Beach, Bo sang "Can't You See" and it was amazing. It was one of those oh-my-god-he's-taking-my-breath-away performances. Growling, prowling Bo at his best. I burned the audio of the concert to a cd and I've had that one on repeat all weekend!

Atlantic City House of Blues (picture above) last April was THE best Bo concert I've ever attended. Ever. He didn't even break a sweat but he was on fire. His friend has just passed away and somehow I think he channeled all of his grief into his music and the result was a raw intenseness that I've never seen before or since. Whew.

Another favorite show was Kent in 2007. I was standing right at his feet, propped on the stage. This show was acoustic and what stands out in my mind is how he would stomp his bare foot to his music and you could feel the floor vibrating as he did it. He sang "Only Words" and immediately afterwards I yelled out "Beautiful!" as did several others in the audience. He leaned over and gave me his pick at the end of this show. Wow. In retrospect, I can see how he still wasn't well and he had lost weight on that tour. But he looked beautiful. Caroline was at that show and she braided his hair before the meet and greet. (I assume she did it- he may have!) He was so sweet even though he was tired but his smile was quick and genuine.

That concludes today's visit down memory lane. I'll try and recap some more shows this week and also post any new Bo Bice news!
