Deep Thoughts on a Thursday

This morning I read something on a forum that got me to thinking (yes, I know, dangerous!) about just why I'm a Bo fan. There seems to be some people who think the only reason people are his fans is because he was on American Idol. That could not be farther from the truth in my case.

Earlier in this blog I put a post about the day I watched Bo on his hometown visit live. That is when it clicked with me. I had watched him all season, thought he was cute and talented and sexy, but the big CLICK came much later on.

If I repeat some things I've said in earlier blogs, forgive me, but I am going to try and explain just why I'm a Bo person.

First off, his voice reminded me of Mac Powell from Third Day. Oh my. Mac's voice just makes me swoon. Deep, husky, sexy. And so is Bo's. It has a quality about it that sends shivers down my spine. Watching him on a video or seeing him on television cannot begin to capture the richness, fullness, and power of that voice. Even a recording on a CD isn't the same.

When I saw Bo live the first time it was at an Idols concert. When he came onstage, I was awestruck. That voice! Oh.My.God.

Now I'm not going to pretend that I don't think he's hot as a firecracker, but in 100% honesty, it was his voice and his sweet spirit that first captivated me. Actually part of what I find so attractive in him is how he behaves, you know, like the old saying, "Pretty is as pretty does."

Another thing that I want to stress is that I never, ever think of him as an American Idol contestant. Bo has grown over the past years into a wonderfully talented performer. He opens that mouth and I'm lost. My friends say that I go into a trance the minute he comes onstage. I'm not a screamer, I don't jump up and down, I just stand or sit there and listen and look. I don't want to miss one nuance of a note that he sings.

I'm a "Repeat Offender"- I go to numerous concerts. What some people do not understand is that I can see Bo three nights in a row and each and every show is completely different. There are so many factors affecting live performances that I'm always anxious to see the mood and atmosphere of the show. Some nights it's family oriented, some nights it's sexy Bo, some nights he's the comedian, some nights it's all about the music without much chatter. And it's all good. It's always interesting and it's always, always entertaining.

People who had a "fling" with Bo during Idol and immediately thereafter are missing out on who he is as a performer today, as someone who has a tremendous work ethic and always strives to give his all to his audience and who always, always expresses his appreciation to his fans. I actually feel sorry for them that they have become so jaded. It's their loss.
