My last stop on my concert weekend was in Vienna, VA at the Barns at Wolf Trap. Snow was falling when we arrived at the beautiful old venue. I say old; the barn is from the 1700's, but you could never tell it. It is just gorgeous.
We found our seats- third row this time- and settled in. But the fates smiled on us and we were able to move up to the second row in the center. Boo-ya! The snow had kept some people away and their loss was our gain!
This venue said absolutely NO PICTURES, so I didn't even get out my camera. There were some rebels in the crowd who risked it, but I sat back and enjoyed the show! Sometimes it's fun to just forget pictures and get totally immersed in the music.
Bo was so happy that night! I could almost read his mind..."I'm playing at Wolf Trap, I'm playing at Wolf Trap!!" He was charming and witty and had the audience eating out of his hand. Bo is a pro at drawing people in. He always gives his Peeps recognition, but he singles out new fans and makes them feel special, too. This lady on the front row was practically a pile of goo after he bantered with her! I'll bet she'll go back to see him in the future!
The set list was like the two previous nights. See The Light favorites, a few covers, and the two new songs. But the joy was a notch above Annapolis. I guess I'm kind of conflicted as to which show I enjoyed the most, Sellersville or Wolf Trap. His vest and tattoos might sway me in Sellersville's direction, but his happiness makes me lean toward Wolf Trap. Tough choice, so I'm just not going to make one!! I'll just say they were all outstanding!
The finale at Wolf Trap was For What It's Worth, and this night us Peeps threw our arms around each other at the front of the stage and sang along with him while swaying back and forth. It was such a wonderful feeling of comraderie.
I've discussed the fact with my friends many times about our relationships as Peeps. In the beginning I don't think Bo understood the nature and depth of the friendships. The private party last year was one place where he got to see us interact like he never had before and I think it began to click with him. I hope it makes him feel good right down to his toes that he's done this wonderful thing for us. Without him, I wouldn't have my best friends in the entire world. He always makes the statement that this thing is bigger than he is, and he's right. I think he "gets" us now, just like we "get" him.
We left Wolf Trap last Sunday night in a snowstorm, but we weren't cold...we were still warm from the residual heat of one hot, hot show!
Next time I see Bo will be in Nashville on April 1. He's going back to the Exit/In where his wonderful comeback concert was held after his long illness. It should be a good time. :)
