Nashville Cat

Yep, Bo was one awesome Nashville Cat last Wednesday night. My friend Debbie and I drove up to Nashville to see him at the Exit/In at a benefit. We stayed right up the street at the Hampton Inn and walked down that afternoon to take a look around. Because of some inconsistent advertising, we were not 100% sure that Bo was going to be there. But we were meeting some other Peeps for dinner and we knew we would have a good time together. Jimmy told me just not to expect him and then if he did show up I would be surprised.

After dinner we made our way down to the venue and went inside. It wasn't very crowded and the 10 or so of us lined right up against the front of the stage. First up was a girl named Jessica Campbell. She was really good and I enjoyed her set. Next came a guy and I cannot for the life of me remember his name! Then the hostess of the event, Kelleigh Bannen, took the stage.

Kelleigh lost her brother to drugs last year on her 27th birthday. She set out this year to do 90 gigs in 90 days to bring attention to drug abuse and to the fact that there is hope for freedom from addiction. This was her 90th concert, and she was blinking back tears as she came out to much applause. She sang several songs and as she was singing I saw Don, Bo's manager. I looked at Debbie, smiled, and told her Bo was here. Good news!

Kelleigh introduced Bo as her special guest. He brought Patrick Mitchell and Bart Walker with him. He was so gracious and complimentary of Kelleigh. He sang Midnight Rider, For What its Worth and Angel from Montgomery, which was a duet with Kelleigh. Bo's voice was in magnificent form and just filled the small venue. He kept things kind of low-key and kept the focus on Kelleigh and her accomplishment. He also thanked us fans for being there, and just so happened to look toward me and Debbie as he said that. That man always makes me feel so good! He was chatty and funny and very sweet.

I took a couple of videos during the show. Here is Angel from Montgomery.
