Today I purchased a ticket for Bo's show at The Barns at Wolf Trap. I saw him there earlier this year and it was like a winter wonderland. For this southern girl, it was pure magic to see the large flakes falling out of the night sky and fluttering down onto everything, softly covering it with a pristine white cloak.
The Barns is a beautiful, unique venue. It is made up of two 18th century barns which were moved from upstate New York. The inside is warm and inviting and lends itself to an intimacy between the performer and his audience.
One thing I will never forget is how during Bo's last song, For What Its Worth, all of us Peeps stood at the front, arms around each other, swaying back and forth as Bo sang his heart out. The Barns doesn't allow pictures, so there was no worrying about getting a good shot or video. Just pure enjoyment of the music and the moment. He had a meet and greet afterwards out in the lobby area, and we were just about the last ones to leave. Another indelible memory is Bo looking towards us and cautioning us to be careful going home.
This upcoming show is next February. I hope it's a pretty white postcard again. I am going with my two Debbies and I'm so happy to have this to look forward to next year. Bo just makes me happy, plain and simple.
