Another weekend! Yay! It's going to be a busy one but I think it will be good. I need to get a blog on here before I start my whirlwind of activities.
There is the CUTEST video that Bo has put on his website and on youtube. It shows him opening up his box of calendars and he's awfully chatty. I adore it when he's chatty! I'll try to put it on here. I've never uploaded a video. ETA: I'll have to do this at home. I'll get it up later tonight.
Some smart aleck (how DO you spell that??) left a not-so-nice comment on my 2006 video of Bo singing Nothing Without You in Montgomery. Good grief. So what if Jon Bon Jovi is their idea of perfection. But something good came of that nasty comment; my mind drifted back to that hot, hot day in May of 2006.
We stayed at the Embassy Suites right downtown by the festival. Of course we had to go out early in the morning to grab us a spot. Thank goodness for one of the fan's daughters because she raced up there and saved us a place. People were swarming and the day kept getting hotter...and hotter...and hotter. They had this misting tent that you could stand under and I stood there until my hair was soaking wet. I don't think I would have survived if I hadn't done that!
There was an older lady in the audience name Mary. Her son worked for the sponsors or something, but she told him she had to get there early to get a good spot to see Bo! She was as cute as could be. I guess she was in her seventies. When the show started everyone moved over and made a place for her right on the front!
Somehow the crowd had shifted and I ended up smack dab on the front in the middle. It was a prime spot, let me tell you! I got a wink and I also got his water bottle. I'm easy to please. ;)
I honestly cannot remember a lot about what Bo sang that night. I remember the heat, his hair hanging in wet strands, and the exuberant smile on his face. Oh, and his toes! His cute toes hanging off the side of the stage are seared into my mind. He climbed up on the scaffolding to wave at the crowd which looked like it went back for a couple of blocks. Bo was in his element among adoring home-state fans.
At one point in the concert, Bo was preparing to sing a slow song, probably Sinner In A Sin, and I don't know what came over me. I tell everyone that the heat made me delirious! In the quietness, I yelled out, YOU'RE BEAUTIFUL!!!. Oh yes I did. I couldn't believe I did it when I did it. But I meant it with all my heart. I didn't think about doing it; it was totally spontaneous. I haven't done anything like that since then. Typically I stand there and just stare. He must think I'm simple-minded or something because I'm pretty slack-jawed during a show! BWAH!
Wish I could remember more details, but with the time passing and the heat that day, I think my brain is pretty fried on this particular concert.
