The days have slipped by me and I haven't written any more! But it's "Finally Friday, free again, to get my motor running for a wild weekend"! LOL, that is a George Jones song that my local radio station used to play every Friday morning. Sure did put a smile on my face; it still does when I think about it!
I got my issue of Christian Musician in the mail yesterday. The article on Bo is great! The guy who wrote it seems to be a big fan. It covers both Bo's faith and his music. I tell you what, when he started talking about guitars and amps and pedals and such it felt like he was speaking Greek! I'm going to get my son to interpret it!
This morning a particular concert doesn't come immediately to mind for a recap, but an appearance does come to mind. I have a picture hanging on my wall right behind my computer of Bo on his Harley. Back in August Bo was riding in a poker run with some guys to raise money for veterans and he sold the pictures to help with the fundraising efforts. It was held in Pelham and since that's only about an hour away, hubby and I went and of course I had to have one of the pictures.
We went to the pub where the run was ending, met a few friends and settled in with some lunch and drinks to wait for Bo to make it in. They had these cool Malibu rum glasses that lit up at the bottom and you got one each time you got a tropical drink. I was the designated driver so I only tasted of the drink, but I brought home four glasses. I still have them and I get one out and use it to be festive occasionally!
Bo came striding through the door right by our table heading to the restroom. As luck would have it the waitress put us right outside the men's restroom. LOL! He greeted all of us, shook our hands, and thanked us for coming. I think we were the only fans there. Everyone else in the place had on biker clothes, but everyone was extremely nice to us! We bought tickets for the raffle and listened to the band playing. Bo came back to our table a couple of times and talked to us. Caroline was having labor pains and he was antsy about getting back home to her. He looked adorable in his chaps. I use the word adorable...I guess I really mean HOT! He and my husband hit it off very well and they gabbed for a while. Us women at the table just sat and gazed at him as they talked music and beer.
Bo sat at a table and listened to the band. After a while they had Bo get onstage with them and sing Sweet Home Alabama. He was truly happy that day and it was evident in the way he was smiling and enjoying himself singing with those guys.
Before he left, we spoke to him once more, grabbed a picture and said our goodbyes. When he put his arm around me for the picture, I just blurted out, "Thank you." He squeezed me so hard when I said that! I really do appreciate how good he is to us and I want him to know I don't take it for granted. He doesn't have to be nice the way he is!
I walked outside and as he came out he touched my arm and told me bye again. He took the opportunity to look at some of the other guys' bikes and even sat on one of them. Then he put on his helmet, waved, and rode away toward Nashville and his family. Caleb was born two days later.
We hung around the place for a while longer and I actually won something in the raffle. I got a whole bunch of stuff from Orange County Choppers- hats, caps, a hoodie, autographed picture and more. Cool!
This was a really fun day. I enjoyed seeing Bo getting to be just "Bo". He was so sweet to us and I hope I get the opportunity to do something similar in the future.
There's a picture of two of my favorite men...hubby and Bo...at the top of this post. Don't they both look cute? :)
