This morning I followed my same routine...wake up, get out of bed, and check in at Bo's home place, just to see if by some miraculous chance in the middle of the night he's visited and posted a huge blog and hundreds of pictures! J/K, but I do like to see what is going on in BoLand.
Someone innocently started a thread about supporting the new president. That's fine with me. He's not my cup of tea, but to each his own. The thing that just infuriates me is that there are a couple of members who think they are so much more intelligent and informed than anyone else and if a person dares to disagree with them, they start name-calling. Either that or they start trying to moderate the thread.
For a long time these people intimidated me. Now they just make me angry. How dare they throw the word "ignorance" toward people whose politics don't align with theirs? I could throw a few choice adjectives at them- but I'm not going to. It's not worth it and a Bo Bice fan board is not the place. I'm sure Bo would LOVE it if the Peeps got into a heated political debate. He's a smart man and has kept his political opinions to himself, allowing his fans to think for themselves, unlike some other big-mouthed celebrities.
Well, I left here for several hours and now I'm back in a much rosier mood. Today's recollection will be from the Stroudsburg show in 2006. My partner in crime and I arrived in town and of course we had to ride by and see if his bus was there. Oh yes, it was. So we parked our car across the alley and waited a while. Unfortunately he had already gone inside so we went on our way. I wouldn't do that now, but back then it was really hard to get to Bo!
Our seats were in the balcony for this show. We got up there, affixed a poster to overhang and settled in. Before the show started, we decided we didn't like it up there! This show had been rescheduled, plus that night there was flooding that was preventing a lot of people from being able to get there. So we ended up in about the 12th row center. I sat there hunkered down for the longest time so afraid that the rightful owner of the seat would show up, but they never did!
The crowd in the theater was different than those had been at other venues. Everyone pretty much stayed seated. It felt rather strange. Nobody was sitting when Bo came down off the stage and went strolling up the aisle to the back of the venue while playing Dreams! That was unexpected and delightful! I think he surprised his security too! Shelley went racing up the aisle behind him, pushing a security guard ahead of him. It was funny to see.
Bo did an acoustic set that night. He sang Country Boy Can Survive/Long Haired Country Boy and Angel from Montgomery. My goodness, AFM was just beautiful! I was a rebel that night and made video of it.
After the show there was a large crowd of us who stood out front talking. After a while everyone headed back up the sidewalk towards our hotel. I lingered at the back of the crowd and when I got my opportunity, I grabbed my friend and drug her down an alley to the back of the venue. Nobody missed us and we were the only "regular" fans back there. Bo's manager came outside and said Bo would be out shortly and would sign one thing for each person. He asked for no posed photography and no hugging or kissing Bo. (Apparently that had gotten to be a problem!)We stood and chatted with Kris, Heath and Tommy and were at the very end of the line. When Bo got to us he reached out and gave us a hug! That was a pleasant surprise!
I went back to Stroudsburg for the show in 2008. I'll recap it tomorrow. :)
