Man, I've neglected this blog! Personal crap...but I'm baaa-aaackkk!!This past weekend I had the pleasure of attending three Bo shows. They were in Sellersville, PA, Annapolis, MD and Vienna, VA. Thanks to the generosity of my fellow Bo Hos I had a place to stay and a way to get around!
The first show was a heart-stopper! Front row, less than a foot from the stage- how much better could it get? (Unless Bo did the entire show sitting in my lap...LOL!)
Patrick Mitchell performed first, and as much as I enjoyed him, I was antsy for Bo. Then here came Bart, my heart began to pound and THERE HE WAS!! My goodness, the man gets more and more breath-taking each time I see him! Sexy shades, long hair flowing, leather jacket, vest, jeans and some new black shoes that I saw him wear at the Disney event last month. We all went berzerk, yelling and whooping for him.
Then he opened his mouth. My God. His voice just soothes my soul. Now when I say his voice, I mean his singing voice and his speaking voice. He was so funny that night, just "on" with the audience, chatting away, and I could have listened all night.
One thing I distinctly remember is how he thanked everyone for being there.
...just to be a part of something that has nothing to do with me, man, I can tell you that. It's all due to the Lord above and each one of you people that came here tonight and each one of you fans that hang out. You know I never take ya'll for granted, all my friends know that I say this every night. I won't never take a single one of ya'll for granted. So thank you so much for coming out tonight and being a part of this.
I love him.
After he had sang a bit, he turned his back to us, took off that jacket, and all of the air was sucked out of the room by the Peeps! Vest, no shirt, baby! Tattoos in all their glory! It was quite the moment! He took a swig of water and with that cute little smirk he asked what was the matter, was it time for a hair cut or something? Little devil knew exactly what he was doing!
Bo introduced us to two newly written songs. The first was Good Hearted Woman, written about his mom, his grandma, and his wife, Caroline. It's a more mature Bo song, a story-telling biographical song, and it captures the women in his life succinctly. It had a country/bluegrassy sound that I really liked.
The second was Long Road Back, a totally catchy tune. I've hummed and sang it ever since the first time I heard it! He said he was still trying to figure out what it means! The audience in Sellersville was completely captivated, clapping along in rhythm as he played and sang. He had a big old grin on his face while we were doing that. I'm so proud of him that I could just burst!
Bo ended the show with Buffalo Springfield's For What It's Worth. Excellent choice in my opinion! People recognize that song and we were singing along at the top of our lungs. He brought Patrick back out on stage and shared the verses with him and Bart. Bart has a lovely, raspy voice by the way. I totally love it.
Afterwards they announced we were having a meet and greet, which made all of us Hap-Py! I was near the end of the line and I bought a Patrick Mitchell CD from Patrick Childers. Now, Mr. Childers was in quite the chipper mood. He was chatty and said he liked to see us Peeps because he knew he could start packing up! I told him we always try to get at the back of the line and let the new people go first and he said that was nice of us. Ah, I just like to hang around as long as possible in the same room with Bo!
I told Bo that I really loved his new songs and got him to sign a picture for the wife of a guy who works with me. The picture was printed on a sheet with another picture, and after he signed the one for her, he flipped the page around and said, "Lisa, do you want me to sign this one to you?" (He knows me...EEEEEE...I can't ever get past the wonder of that fact!) and I brilliantly said, "If you want to." Duh.
As the meet and greet ended I was standing outside the venue looking in the window at Bo's back, mesmerized by his long pony tail hanging between his shoulder blades. He stood to leave, turned around and saw me, and gave me a sweet little wave and big smile. I love him, have I said that lately?
We drove away down the side street and saw Bo standing in his bus, "headed to another town now, got to do another show..." So we did as he suggested..."Grab a friend if you want, come along and join me for the ride". Next stop: Annapolis!
