Me and Tracy Byrd
Me, Naked Cowboy and Deb. I cropped the picture!!!
Kris Bell and meWe went to an auction! The Nashville YWCA had a celebrity auction and Bo was going to appear at 11, so we made our way downtown via Driving Miss Daisy and easily found the park and the big tent. We got close seats and it was comfortably cool under there, believe it or not. Several of us Peeps decided that we would bid on Bo's item and if we got it we would split the cost and donate it to the Alabama Music Hall of Fame for his display there.
The auction started and several items were auctioned. The Roys came and their stuff went for less than $100. Then here comes Bo! The first thing they have him do is carry this huge framed thing of Carrie memorabilia up and down the aisle for action. Kind of left a bad taste in my mouth, but he was all smiles. It brought about 750 dollars. Then he showed what he had brought...the shirt he was wearing for the cover of The Real Thing! The bidding started and suddenly it got really high! Bo's grin got bigger and bigger as he looked from one side to the other as the bidding war continued! Sue was bidding against someone on the other side and when it went to $1500 we told her to stop! We thought we'd let someone besides a Peep win. Well, it turns out it was a new Peep who won. She got it autographed and for some reason he signed it with a black marker...black on black!
We wandered around and waited, knowing Bo would have to come out sooner or later. He saw us and waved and we moved aside. The security guard said he would be coming out that way. It wasn't long until he and Patrick came out and they came over to us and stopped and talked for a minute. He had some more pictures made with the girl who won the shirt, and as he was leaving he put his hand under my arm and said, "Bye, Lisa." It takes so little to please me. LOL!!
We walked on down to the riverfront and went to Cotton Eyed Joe's where I got my family some stuff and we all got cowboy hats. We looked great! We came on up the street and saw where Tracy Byrd was having an autograph signing. We stood in line and got his autograph and a picture. He's a nice man.
Deb, Debbie and I went on up to the ice cream parlor and sat at a table in the window and watched people go by. It was nice.
The next famous person we came upon was the Naked Cowboy. He was having pictures with people, so Deb and I got right up there and stuffed a dollar in his guitar. He put his arms around us and kind of tickled us and the next thing I knew his leg was twisting around and he had his boot up in my crotch!! I thought, "Surely he'll just put it between my knees!" but no! He put it ALL the way up there and wiggled that boot back and forth! It shocked the crap out of me but I was cracking up. Then we turned around and he grabbed our butts- hard!- and I barely touched his. I didn't want to grab a handful of a strange man's butt! Jimmy said I should have gone for it! Now he tells me.
We made our way back to the park and saw the Daytime Divas singing. Jimmy loves "Blair", so I took a few pictures of her. I also got a couple of "Lucky" and "Ryan", Cameron Matheson. We hollered at him but he never turned around.
We went back to the auction as it was winding down and found that Bo's shirt was one of the highest items auctioned. That made us very proud!
It was time to go back to the hotel. We chilled a bit then went for lunch at Captain D's. Then back to the hotel to change for the Kris Bell show in Murfreesboro that night. We headed out late and arrived in plenty of time to see Kris's show, which began at 10:30. There were several friends there and we had a great time taking pictures together and with Kris, too. There was a little guy named Cornbread who danced with several of us. I figured, why not? I was having a great time. Cornbread and I shut down the dance floor at the end while Sweet Home Alabama played. What a fun evening!
Debbie, Deb, Jen and I went to Waffle House and had breakfast about 3 a.m. We got to bed about 4:30, then we were up at 7:30 to begin our last day in Nashville. :(
